Landscape Regeneration and Restoration

Landscape Regeneration & Restoration

Ghana loses 2% of its forest annually to mining, agriculture, and illegal logging, threatening biodiversity and water security. We champion integrated landscape regeneration in Ghana, focusing on restoring degraded wetlands, small rivers, farmlands, and forests through community-driven partnerships and science-based strategies. By aligning restoration goals with local livelihoods, cultural values, and national climate commitments, we foster resilient ecosystems and sustainable development.

Key Focus Areas

  • Wetland & Small-River Restoration
We prioritize critical wetlands in small towns and emerging cities employing community-led restoration, invasive species control, and woodlot establishment to combat degradation caused by encroachment, overexploitation and pollution.
  • Agroforestry & Degraded Farmland Revival
In cocoa-growing regions, we promote regenerative agriculture to reduce deforestation pressures. Training farmers in climate-smart practices—such as shade-tree planting, composting, and water conservation to boost yields while restoring trees along riverbanks. Working with communities, we establish fast-growing woodlots (e.g., Acacia mangium) to provide alternative fuelwood and rehabilitate degraded land.
  • Livelihood Diversification & Capacity Building
Restoration is paired with economic resilience: training in beekeeping, snail farming, and agroforestry diversifies the incomes of farmers, reducing reliance on extractive practices.

Join Us in transforming Ghana’s landscapes into thriving ecosystems where communities and nature prosper together.
